Abstract

Percutaneous mitral valve repair using the MitraClip® device intends to reduce severity of mitral valve regurgitation. It is a clip that is implanted percutaneously to connect the mitral valves where they are not tightening.
For operable patients, one randomised controlled trial and one uncontrolled study were identified, whereas for inoperable patients only uncontrolled studies (nine in total) were found.
Based on this evidence, the inclusion into the hospital benefit catalogue is not recommended, neither for operable nor inoperable patients.
