The report represents the 1st update of the evaluation of radiofrequency denervation for the treatment of chronic lumbar or cervical facet joint pain. In addition to the original review, patients suffering from facet joint syndrome due to osteoporosis were considered.
In order to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of radiofrequency denervation for cervical facet joint pain, the current report summarises the results of two studies. Regarding chronic low back pain, the findings of six studies were analysed. No evidence was found regarding the clinical efficacy of radiofrequency denervation for the treatment of facet joint syndrome due to osteoporosis.
