Abstract

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) affects the quality of life for many men. TIND is a temporary, minimally invasive nitinol implant for the relief of symptoms.

To evaluate the method, a systematic review was conducted, identifying one RCT (n=185) versus a sham procedure and one single-arm study. The evidence (very low certainty) showed an improvement in symptoms but also a higher rate of adverse events. Due to the lack of comparisons with standard therapies and long-term data, an added benefit of TIND cannot currently be proven. Key limitations are the high risk of bias and the indirectness of the evidence.
