Implantable pulmonary artery pressure telemonitoring aims to detect early haemodynamic deterioration and enable early therapy adjustment in NYHA III heart failure.
To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety, seven studies (3 RCTs, 4 observational studies) were included. High- to moderate-certainty evidence indicates that PAP telemonitoring significantly reduces hospitalisations compared with standard care, with no significant effects on mortality, urgent care, or use of guideline-directed medical therapy. The safety profile is favourable with rare complications (moderate certainty). Effects on health-related quality of life remain uncertain due to high risk of bias for patient-reported outcomes. However, real-world effectiveness depends on structured care pathways and adequate resources.
